Toverlux – Light that connects

Toverlux combines art and light to create a holistic lighting system that fills homes and children's rooms with gentle magic. The name is a combination of the Dutch word “toveren” (to conjure) and the Latin word “lux” (light) – “magical light” that creates atmosphere. 

Origin & philosophy

Founded by two mothers, Femke and Annefleur, Toverlux was born out of a desire to bring light to everyday life, family and the seasons. They are inspired by Waldorf principles, nature and the rhythm of the seasons, and attach great importance to creating products that will last for years and carry memories. 

Wood is at the heart of this: FSC-certified birch wood is used for lamp housings, frames and lanterns, carefully milled and lovingly crafted. 

With sustainability and durability in mind, Toverlux products are designed to become family heirlooms.

Bring the seasons to life with the lovingly designed illustrations by Swedish artist Elsa Beskow. Whether as a complete set or with individual monthly motifs, her pictures show the beauty of nature through the changing seasons. In the warm light of your Toverlux lamp, they gently come to life and offer moments full of poetry, comfort and wonder.

The Toverlux Product Range

Toverlux is much more than "the Magic Lamp." The range includes:

  • Lamps & Frames: The core product is the wooden lamp with a dimmable LED and the matching frame into which interchangeable motifs are inserted. 
  • Starter Sets: Complete sets with a lamp and several silhouettes, often thematically coordinated with seasons, holidays, or illustrators. 
  • Interchangeable Motifs / Silhouettes: Individual motifs or series (e.g., "All Around the Year") for personalised design. These are thematically diverse: Waldorf-typical seasons, holidays, dreams & wonders, everyday scenes and much more. 
  • Lanterns / Lampshades / Accessories: For more flexible or cordless lighting there are lanterns, matching shades, replacement LEDs, frame bases and similar items. 
  • DIY & Craft Sets: To encourage personal creativity, Toverlux offers paper-templates, craft motifs and set expansions that allow you to create your own light-pictures. 

Throughout the entire collection the products are stylistically coordinated — from lamps and motifs to accessories. 

Innovative Functions & Operation

Dimmable LED Light: The lighting can be turned on and off by gently touching (tapping) it, and dimmed by holding it longer. This creates cosy light for every mood. 

  • Interchangeable Silhouettes: Motifs can be easily swapped — ideal for seasonal adjustment, holidays or individually desired themes. 
  • Flexibility in Placement: The lamp housing or frame can be freestanding or wall-mounted, depending on the room situation. 
  • Easy Expandability: Users can continuously evolve the system over years with matching accessories, new motifs and extension sets. 

Artistic Collaboration & Motif Selection

A central part of Toverlux are the illustrations, which come from a network of selected artists, often with a connection to nature, seasons, fairy-tales and Waldorf aesthetics.
