Fairies, dwarves, elves, gnomes and elementals

Entities such as fairies, dwarves, elves, gnomes and elementals are common in mythology and folklore. Each of these entities has its own unique history and characteristics that set them apart. Fairies are considered mysterious beings with magical powers, dwarves clever and skilled smiths, elves elegant and graceful, and gnomes short-tempered but clever and smart. Elementals, such as fire elementals, air elementals and water elementals, are ghostly beings associated with the four elements.

"Children do not experience the world as a material world of objects like we adults do, but as a world of forces and feelings. Everything is animated and animate. Of course they play with elemental beings, sometimes they even talk to them. That is why children's time is so intense, rich and wonderful. A flower or a stone is so delightful because the flower elf or the stone gnome talks to the child's heart. A corner in the garden is so homely because there a merry group of gnomes lets the day be good. The souls of us adults are also permeated by elemental beings."
