Play materials in Waldorf education

Waldorf education places great value on natural and freely designed play materials. They offer the children creative possibilities, give them room for the powers of imagination and encourage them to work on their own. Cloths made of wool or silk provide ideas for many kinds of play: for building dens, for dressing up, for playing with dolls and cuddly animals, as a base for playing with wooden animals and figures. Every day they can be used in a different and varied way.

Filges Woolen Manufactory

Founded in 1985, the family business Wollmanufaktur Filges produces sustainable, environmentally friendly, pollutant-free and ecologically responsible products. Since 1995, the company has been a certified Bioland processing company for sheep's wool, and since 2015, it has again been a member of the IVN. The processed wool comes exclusively from sheep from controlled organic livestock farming in Germany. The dyes are vegetable, the mordants alum and tartar.
