The complete Advent and Consecration Nights calendar.

It is a beautiful custom in Waldorf schools and kindergartens to arrange the "little Advent garden" as a spiral and to let the children follow the path inwards and outwards. All the usual calendars for Advent begin with 1 December and end already at Christmas. This calendar begins with the earliest Sunday in Advent, 27 November, and ends on Epiphany, 6 January. When the "silent time" of Advent comes to an end, with 24 December (Adam and Eve Day) or 25 December, (Christmas Day), the thirteen holy nights begin. These are special nights, as Rudolf Steiner's spiritual science makes clear.

This calendar includes "main festive season" and ends on 6 January, Epiphany Day. The shepherds in the legend visit the Christ Child on Christmas Day in the stable in Bethlehem and bring the Saviour milk, wool and a little sheep. On 6 January, when the Magi arrive, the Boy is already sitting on the lap of Mother Mary and receives the gifts of the Magi: gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Epiphany (6 January) is the commemoration of the baptism of Jesus, into whom the Spirit of Christ enters in the thirtieth year of his life and works through him for three years. This is the visible path of the calendar from the shepherd's way (blue) to the king's way (red). It is like the breathing rhythm of man. From the 13 nights the soul of man emerges again in the present with a fresh, awakened mood of the soul, especially after New Year's Eve. And New Year's Day! It awakens from the warmth of the heart of the shepherds into the clarity of thought of the kings.

Other commemorative days still known: St. Nicholas Day on 6 December, Lucia Day on 13 December and the aforementioned Adam and Eve Day on 24 December, as well as New Year's Eve as the turning point of time.
